I've been looking into picking up a Stingray Special over the last couple days. I was viewing some of the in-stock photos of different models on Sweetwater's website, and I noticed that there is a clear distinction between headstock and neck color. I thought maybe it was specific to that particular model, but it appears to be the case on all the models with ebony fretboards ( haven't checked the other).

Just wondering if this is intentional, and if so, is there a particular reason for it?

I've linked an example image below.

Yep. The headstocks on EBMM guitars are always finished. With a "natural" headstock, it's got a satin clear coat on it. The darker wood of the roasted maple makes it pop out a bit more.

Thanks for the responses!

I'd never noticed it on any previous EBMM basses, so I was concerned for a bit. Nice to know there's nothing to worry about. Probably going to order a new bass in the coming days :)
