Doing some normal "new maintenance" on a Luke (G38717), took the neck off (which I had to pull straight up away from face/top of guitar) and had a hell of a time. Then I saw this:

Never seen these before. Any ideas? Definitely gonna make the neck joint a bit more solid (good or bad). Was these posts ever an option?

Aftermarket? Did I just buy someone's "lemon"? Neck pocket seemed very tight (regardless of these extra posts)...

My Dargie 2... Holes in exact same spot (no posts) on neck heal, no holes in neck pocket. 🤔

All the examples I've posted have the exact holes in the neck heal, but not in the neck pocket. I'm thinking these posts are something that was done at the factory. Any employees of EB that can shine some light on what they are used for or why this one has them used in this guitar. If this not done at the factory, I might want to return it. Thanks!

Those 2 holes are used I believe for when they paint The ones in the center. The two pins were added by someone other than EBMM.

(I miss my Dargie Luke, sometimes I can be such a dope :( )

I would think those pins would keep the neck from shifting, angle-wise and such, right?
