That serial number actually brings the guitar up as a Silver Burst. This must have been a custom color for promotional use.

Thanks, yea I didn't see that, figured you guys would have more info.

I pulled up the S/N at the MM serial number checker and it said "Custom Color"

Interesting

Piezo with dots?

JP6 without the inlays. It used to be an option. I think it isn't anymore.

Correct!

You used to be able to order any combination of the following 3 options

Matching/non-matching headstock
JP Shield Inlays/dot inlays
Piezo/non-piezo

The JP6/7 now come with a matching headstock, JP inlays, and piezo as standard features (and currently matte black hardware). Paint color is the only current option on these, unless it's part of a limited run.

Do you think this was a Silver Burst originally? Or originally earmarked for SB but instead went to special order?

I can see painting the body, but I don't see anyone refinishing the headstock too, can't get those decals!

The headstock has some purple in the middle. Also the logo is silk screened on, not a decal. No way to re-finish the headstock and have it look like that.

That's what I was thinking! All of them are silk screened?

As far as I know, yes. This is why the color of the logo on the front often matches the color of the "MADE IN SAN LUIS OBISBO" marking on the back of the head stock, depending on the color.
