Hello everybody, I'm Marco from Italy, and I'm new to this forum!
I'm a happy owner of a Music Man EVH, great guitar!

Now I'm looking to buy an Axis Super Sport, possibly a MM90 equipped guitar. Those are pretty rare guitars, and I've only one on sell in my country:

As you can see, the guitar seems in pretty good conditions, but the thing that seems strange to me is the neck plate without MM logo..
I've asked some better pictures to see the serial number, for the moment I can read this:

Any suggestion? They ever shipped Axis with a no-logo neck plate?
Thank you!:)

Ciao Marco! Welcome to the forum family!

The guitar looks absolutely fine to me, except for the neck plate. Maybe they cracked the original neck plate by over tightening the screws and used a replacement from somewhere else? And I can find no matching guitar with 7768 at the end. You can try yourself...

Serial Number Database | Ernie Ball Music Man

Of course there are occasional errors in the database so maybe the serial number is correct?

So chances are it's like DrKev said, the plate got cracked and they replaced and from the looks of it, put any old serial number on it.

Do you like the guitar? Do you want the guitar? I have to tell you I love the MM90's, they are just excellent pickups IMO.

If you like it and the price is right buy it, just remember if you sell it that the neck plate isn't right.

They would have been better off leaving the serial number off.

I was told a couple of years ago that replacement plates have no serial number, which makes that one very odd.
I'd contact EBMM customer service about it...

I love my EVH (the neck is absolutely AMAZING) and I love p90 pickups, so I think I'll much like this guitar. :)
Do you think there is any chance to find out the original serial number or the only place where it's stamped is on the neck plate?
Thank you for your help! ;)

That 5 on the top of the guitar, is that on top of the finish, or under it?

Also, that neck plate looks almost like the serial number is etched onto it, not stamped.

The "5" on the body is a decal, the actual owner says that can be removed without problems. :)

That's a decal or print on the neck plate which Music Man don't do and the typeface is not correct. Music Man won't be able to tell you more than you already know.

But the guitar looks great, even if the neck plate and serial number are a bust. MM90 are fantastic pickups. Really something quite special.

What are the odds the Original Neckplate cracked and they had the Blank Neck Blank engraved by someone who made a typo and made it 67768 instead of 67758? maybe the crack went right through the 5?
Long shot i know... On the other hand, that guitar has a Cherry Burst not a Vintage Sunburst doesn't it?

Should'n also say "Axis Super Sport" on the model name?
Anyway, are original neck plates (with MM logo) without serial number available anywhere?
