Hello!

I bought a stingray special HH and really have no use for the neck pickup…can I just swap the HH pick guard with an H pick guard and cover the neck pickup with it without damaging that neck pickup? Silly question, I just don’t want to damage the bass. Thanks!

Doubt it would wind down far enough.
In theory a single H guard should fit as the rear H (where it’s all at) is still in the same position.
Removing the neck pickup would just cause many issues.
Move it on and swap it out for another bass is easier

MM wiring allows no hum prone coil combinations. Remove a PU and you could end up with hum.

I have only one HH bass out of a dozen. So, clearly, HH is not my thing. I just pushed the neck PU down as far as the springs allow and that has been satisfactory.

A more drastic (but reversible) step might be to remove the springs and put a very thin pad under the PU. That should allow more slap space if that is what you’re after.
