What rig would you guys pair with my SR5? I am gonna be picking up a Peavey Firebass 700 (about 500W at 4ohms) fairly soon and once I have that I will be getting a new rig.
I was thinking either a...
I do have straplocks now. This was just at a practice and I wasn't moving at all. In any case, I'll try your guy's suggestions. It's very small and not very deep so...
Is there anyway to fix a dinged neck? My strap came off and the neck came into contact with a sharp corner. It's only indented a millimetre or two.
The piezo pickup has some very distinct features. It cuts mids and highs, and boosts the low. The main problem with it is that it has a lot of string noise. It's pretty hard to play it with a pick,...
That would mean carving out a new batter cavity...ugh. Unless you put like a 4band Preamp in there I can't see the point.
And the real question is: Why would you want to?

Set-up!
Why not just make the Bongo the "Bovinehost signature model" while you're at it?
:D
that's 2 band! HEY!
I have heard Bart's pickup and was none too impressed. I hesitate to say it's a waste of money, because of course it's all subjective, but I always found the original pickups to be perfect. I suggest...
If you need to get a string louder, putting it closer to the pup helps.
Oh, and as for slapping the higher strings, normally when I slap them the sound I get is quiet too. So when I slap them I...
What is a better sound? Better is a subjective description, not the adjective I need.
Have you tried playing it at a different location? It may be some form of electronics that your TRP wasn't as vunerable too causing it, although not likely best to check all corners. If it does it...
What sound exactly are you going for? Although you can get different sounds from different pickups, a precision pickup is always gonna sound like a precision pickup.
I personally use EB and DM strings for the most part and like them both. I don't think you should focus on the highest priced and most high tech string. Just finding a sting that sounds good for your...
Piezo is worth it just for versatility if you can afford it IMO.
It basically cuts the mids and boosts the bass. It is excellent for accoustic gigs, and when I need to cut the bite of my SR5 I can just roll the piezo up.
My only qualm is that it does have quite...
Screw you both. It was -32 last night.
My christmas present came 6 months early but I am happy none the less today. Enjoy it all to you and your families!
Avenue Guitars up here in Edmonton has one. $2700 Canadian if I recall.
It sounds like your friend has a Black Onyx Sterling... they are a special run.
Duely noted!:D
The HH Bongo should be trickier to slap shouldn't it?
