Ha! I actually have a little Novation Mininova collecting dust in my office. I'm an even worse keyboardist than guitarist.

Yeah, it's a classic 7-sound Strat mod. Over the years, I've learned that there is such a thing as "too many" options for me, but I (obviously) understand the desire to tinker.

    I find myself...

    This is what I've got:

    Neck: Fralin Firebird @7.5k
    Middle: Lollar Firebird @7.6k
Bridge: DiMarzio Minibucker previously in the middle, theoretically a DP-168, whose output I've seen listed...

I run 12s on my hollowbody, because the (cheap) Bigsby on there seems to like a lot of tension in order to maintain tuning stability, but otherwise I tend to run 11s on my 24.75" scale instruments...

Thread: De-mudding an HHH St Vincent: Step 4

Pulled out the pcb and put in 500k pots (SD "Smooth Turning", if you're curious).

I've actually only wired up the neck pickup so far, but when I went to check my work by plugging in and testing...

Pump the brakes on the defensiveness, maybe?

I'm not saying finishes serve no purpose, only that I cannot recall ever hearing anyone complain that their guitar neck has rotted.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone report that their guitar neck rotted.

I suppose it's possible, but at the very least it's going to depend rather a lot on the type of wood.

There's a kernal of truth in this statement that has been stretched to VERY misleading proportions. Will you always get the MOST chime and jangle from single coils, all other aspects of their design...

Something like the Mod Shop could cost me a LOT of money, since there are about five EBMM instruments I'd love to own; I'm just waiting for a color I can't live without.

Strongly disagree on that point. $3k is a big ask, for sure, but I like the new finishes moderately well- and more than most colors offered on other models.

I do think they'd benefit from top...

De-mudding an HHH St Vincent: Step 3

Today's project: install one of the DiMarzio DP-168s that was previous in the neck/middle positions into the bridge position.

Small challenge to be aware of, should anyone reading this consider...

I have 12s on a hollow body. The extra tension seems to help stabilize the Bigsby.
