Hello, back in 2005 i used to be the Lucky owner of a 1991 natural Stingray-5 with a rosewood fretboard and also it's original tolex case.
Unfortunatly i've traded this bass in a Music store around...
Hello,
I noticed that almost all type of EB strings have the newer type of silver foil package except
the Stainless Steel strings??
Probably these aren't so popular??
Strange?
I find...
It sounds great on my Bongo-6 and on my Stingray Bass as well!!
....i'm still wondering why John Myung still uses standard Slinky's.....??
You should give the new Ernie Ball Everlast strings a try!
a set of Skinny Top/heavy Bottom might be too skinny for drop C tunings, Beefy Slinky's are (mostly) used for drop D, and for drop C you might try either a set of Not Even Slinky's (P02626) or Custom...
yes, also i would like a .032 single cobalt bass string added to the catalogue
or even better: 6-string cobalt sets
Well... from all the EB strings i've mentioned are no single high-c's available....
Only the (far too thin) Stainless .028's
I just find it somewhat strange that a company that builds 6-string...
Hello,
Are there any 6-string bassplayers on this forum??
If so:
Would you also like to have more versatility within the EB strings catalog??
Things like:
I'm really looking forward to these strings!
Will there be 6-string Bass sets as well??
....because up until now there are still no 6-string Coated Bass sets.....
I mostly use the coated EB strings (Bass, Guitar, Acoustic)
Next to that i also use EB stainless bass & Flatwound bass (both on my Bongo-6 HS basses)
what about using the 5-string super slinky set?
this one has gauges from .040 to .125
a .130 as a low-B is a good matching gauge
a .125 as a low-B isn't a good matching gauge: string tension is...
i don't suspect John uses the stainless slinky's
for two reason's:
1. there's only one gauge for the c-string available for stainless EB,
which is .028, which is way too thin, and Myung's...
sounds good, but as a minor detail: i'm missing playing techniques such as staccato
on the song Money
but then i'm just refering to the orginal Pink Floyd recordings...
well i would like to see Flea coming back home to musicman as well
but... i like his vintage jazzbass tone as well, and when he is hardly heard on that bass (live) there mostly is one reason: the...
well then there's also a big difference between the ears of the person's that listen to music, and i personally most certainly hear a difference in fretboard wood, especially with fretless
but i'm...
well i don't know if a luthier will be able to remove a fretboard
without creating to much damage....
but i think i may email a luthier on the options on that one!
i mainly explained most points in my reaction below
but yes, ofcourse Pino's hands matter a lot, but that counts for every bassplayer, but that doesn't mean that the spec's of their equipment...
well, not writing down other variables doesn't mean that i didn't consider those
for a start Pino uses Rotosound swingbass strings (.040 - .095) on his fretless (who didn't back then ;) )
and...
let's put things another way: i may persume that most Musicman bass players are formiliar with the fretless sound from Pino Palladino (?)
this amazing sound comes from a fretless Stingray, but this...
maybe because ebony "sings" more....
pau ferro sounds flat, boring, etc...
i mean, pau ferro would be nice for just playing grooves etc., but when you want to play melodies or solo's only ebony...
count that for 2 person's, because i'm also having thoughts on a HHP fretless Bongo-6
but if the piezo option will see the light of day....
perhaps when there's enough interest for a piezo...
the singles you're using come quiete close towards a Skinny top heavy bottom set from EB, product code 2215
those gauges are 10-13-17-30-42-52
worth a try?
that's so cool!
but being a bassplayer and EB addict and needing lot's of strings every year:
when will the coated bassstrings be available??
well those inked leather straps allready come a lot closer to the kind of thing i'm looking for, i only rather would like a lot EB or MM logo's on the strap
let's say in the same style as these...
well, when having a M.M. bass you'll actually have a decent bass that isn't cheap
but when adding a nylon EB strap: the strap looks cheap! so i would like a strap that add's value to my bass
