I like to only keep what I'm using, so I usually sell what I feel I don't need or I don't use.
Last two basses I sold were barely used for maybe around 6 months until I decided "yup, don't wanna...
Umm, yeah, you don't have to worry about that, Joe Exotic. xD
Lol, sorry, I overreacted and that was silly of me. My bad, MM bro :D
Lol, headless.. Is there anything more ugly, outdated, cheesy and passé than a headless instrument? Not many things are I'd say. Yuck!
That's a shame really. Even though I prefer the older standard 2 band Stingrays (no string through body, straight grain wood is more stable, body contours, better saddles, etc.) - it's a shame that...
Black all the way. That tort looks awful, like most modern tort does - brownish, rusty, cheap salami looking, ugly swirls, nothing like the 60s (or even 70s) tort. The only really good looking tort...
I never liked HH Stingray models - neck pup combos are boomy, scooped and with much less tonal character. I'd say, stick to the single H models :D
Black/maple is the sexiest Stingray look, but that's just me. I know what I'd paint it.
Quote from the seller:
"Great Music Man Sterling series Sting Ray 4 bass guitar, bass with low action, great tone and output, satin Tabaco burst finish, upgraded look..."
I take it by "upgraded...
I play Stingrays because I like P bass necks, and dislike thin J bass necks. I do prefer B neck width to C neck width on P basses (1.625" vs 1.75"), which is basically how Stingray necks are like. So...
They have stamped numbers inside the pocket and on the neck, but it's not DOB. EBMM cannot give you any information about them as they don't have them in their database, unfortunately.
I have a Stingray EX 3 bander, late 90s. Yes, it's the same original hardware, electronics and pickups. They made the bodies and necks in Japan, finished them and put the original EBMM guts on them....
Not a fan of stainless steel myself, they always sound scooped. What sounds "nasal" to you, sounds like it has mids to me, and sounds less sterile and scooped to me. That said, I don't personally...
I play mine through Gallien Krueger 2001RB and 410 RBH (sometimes 2 of those cabs together) and love it. GK RB amps with either RBH cabs or an Ampeg 810 + Stingray are classic growly tone.
Probably to keep with the classic Stingray style, they never had a switch. Fivers introduced it. Sterling 4H does have a switch on the other hand.
I tried TI flats on my 2 band Stingray. I LOVED the tone, but they were too floppy and low tension for my liking. The tone was a fantastic, mid rich old school tone though. I sold that 2 bander last...
Red silks - they might have been TI flats. If they were very low tension and pliable - they were most likely TI flats. Very popular and respected flats, but quite unique. Anyways, I love my 2 bander...
This. A lot more tension on the bass neck than a guitar. Usually, the flamed neck version of EBMM basses have a gloss poly finish on them. My BFR Stingray had a roasted flamed maple neck, and a poly...
Flamed maple is less stable/more sensitive to weather changes too, especially without any hard finish on it.
Either a neck swap, or a neck refinish. I've seen a couple where people took the black paint off and put the Stingray logo on the headstock. Is there a visible "tan" line on your neck? That would...
Yup that is your easiest option. One of the better aftermarket ones are John East, Nordstrand and Retrovibe Stinger.
Sure it would work, why wouldn't it? That is, unless you grab one of the very early pickups (up to 77') that have the longer pole pieces, those won't fit in the cavity.
I've turned one of my...
It's still just a repackaged LM3 in a heavier case. Class D or not, Markbass have always been lightweight amps. It's not even a big (at least toroidal) transformer.
Central Europe. Older Markbass heads weren't Class D either. Everything is Class D nowadays though.. Shame.
