Big Al SSS - because it can do anything tonally, and is the most ergonomic bass on the planet. And, it looks freaking cool.

In the flatwound department, the lightest guage of Ernie Ball Flats/D'Addario Chromes (40-95) are really good. Not as high tension as many flats sets, so closer to roundwounds in tension.
Just buy a pair of TSA padlocks - one for each latch. Or, do what I do, which is to use a strip of gaffer tape over each latch.
A better option for plane travel, with a variety of different brand basses, is the SKB Bass Safe - your bass in a gig bag (and some clothes, cables etc) goes into the Bass Safe, which has handles and...

Switching from rounds to flats is a sign of wisdom and maturity, along the lines of switching from drinking lagers to drinking ales.
An LED would be great because I can't wait the 10 seconds it takes to remove the battery from my bass to check it with my tongue. 10 seconds is far too long for me to find out if my battery needs...

You got a sunburst SR4? Take off the pickguard, and you've got a Cliff Williams sig model. Simple.
Acrylic nail polish comes in a gazillion colours. It's a great option for touching up modern instruments.
