I remember hearing years ago about pros having the passive electronics completely bypassed. Definitely not for those who use volume swells.

For me, I honestly have trouble deciding what the volume...

From what I can tell, that guy definitely does have some Musicman basses. That one is not one of them.

I believe that the original old smoothie was one a kind, and had a pickup made by hand, I guess by Leo Fender. I think the pole pieces are closer together than they are on the 4 pole piece pickup.

There is a golem here, and he's a very active poster.

Contact EBMM customer service for parts like the tremolo arm. I am not sure if they will be able to get one to you anytime soon however.

You really aren't going to get a Rickenbacker sound out of a stingray.

That said you really need to sit down and experiment with the effect of where you play the strings on the sound, as well as...

Did you change string gauges? Sounds like you've got the truss rod too tight, and the neck is back bowed.

Just wondering why? That bass will put out one of the most iconic sounds in electric bass history. I wouldn't consider the Nordstrand an improvement.

As far as I know, yes. This is why the color of the logo on the front often matches the color of the "MADE IN SAN LUIS OBISBO" marking on the back of the head stock, depending on the color.

4 Valve Eb Bass? Is this a guitar or a Tuba? Do you have a picture of the neck plate, as that serial number you gave isn't working in the database.

See that big black bar on the bottom of the pickup? That's a Ceramic Magnet, which is touching all of the pole pieces, which are probably made of iron.

There is no phantom coil on that pickup.

The headstock has some purple in the middle. Also the logo is silk screened on, not a decal. No way to re-finish the headstock and have it look like that.

Wow, some people really came out of the woodwork for that. I wonder if they have any idea how much they usually go for. How much were they originally?

Fender experimented for a while using that "vulcanized fiberboard" as a fretboard material.

I find this is definitely true on my SR5H. I want the classic sound: bridge parallel. On my SR5HS, I tend to use the switch more, as there is a lot of tonal variety. But to cut through: bridge only.

Honestly, the switch doesn't change the sound that much, as the SR5H since 2007 just has parallel, series, and series with a "filter". The earlier SR5H had a phantom coil underneath for a hum...

You can try it, but you aren't gonna get the jangle/sparkle of single coil pickups out of humbuckers, even mini humbuckers.

That color is really tempting me to "upgrade" my Stingray 5 in Pearl blue, even though I love that stingray.

Personally, I don't know why they went to the "covered" tremolo design. The vintage design, such as used on the Luke II/III, Axis SS, and other guitars for years looks and plays awesome.

The posts really aren't made to be raised or lowered. They are screwed directly into the body, not into bushings, as far as I know. If you want it to float, it needs to be at an angle to the body.

I would love to have been in the room when Levin first tried to describe the concept of the "funk fingers" and a three stringed bass to Big Poppa.
