Mods - maybe this should be in the General discussion thread, please move it if you see fit.
I'd like to show you how I made a Pedal board case out of scrap materials, namely:-
An old De Walt drill case.
Some aluminium
some roofing batten
Screws / M3 bolts
Power Supply
Old computer mains transformer.
Rubber grommets spilt on Olplayers path by the builder who gave me the case!!

This is how I did it.
First I scrounged an old drill case from my building mate.

I used an old computer mains transformer and removed the female plug. I then cut around the metal in the area shown. I would use this as a retaining plate for the female plug.

I dremelled out a slot in the case and mounted the female plug using the metal backplate

I also dremelled the hinge so that the lid could be removed and in fact I used the lid as the receptacle for the pedals as it gave me a tad more space to work with. I also had to dremel out all the internal plastic mouldings to hold the drill - it was easy really. Here is the case showing a "dry run"

Next, I used some aluminium from the bottom of some old doors in work and a length of roof batten I had lying around

I framed out the case

Then cut some Aluminium

I'm waiting on my Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe (awesome pedal) and will finish everything off. So it will be a modded Wah, Tokai Metal Driver, Electro Harmonix Soul Preacher Compressor, Cool Cat Vibe, Korg Pitchblack Plus Tuner. Running before the board will be my EB 6165 stereo pedal.
The case will have a shoulder carry strap made from an old guitar strap.

Everything was scrap except the power supply - bought off my mate trade for £15 and £1 for various screws and some m3 bolts which screw the pedals to the aluminium. I recon I've saved myself a couple of bob!!

clever Spud how's the height?

Well I wish I was taller Col ;)

When I did the "dry run" for the case - planning for layout etc, I used cd cases to provide height for the pedals. This ensured that the two halves of the case would close instaed of catching on the pedals.
When I finished I did have to remove the plastic handle and it's internal moulding, replacing it with another piece of ally - but it's all good now.

The final step is to secure the old guitar strap to the case and it's all done.

Spud have ya ever thought of becoming a sculptor?

Jeez, I can draw matchstick men but my drawing skills are crap ergo I must be a crap scupltor.
But I did learn how to do stained glass, you know all the lead work and copper work.

My next project is to convert an old HH combo amp (this was scrap - being thrown out by my amp tech mate) - into a 1 x 12 extension speaker for my Marshall. ohhhhh I have to finish my JP 6 first.

It's all finished - and it does everything I planned.

It has a shoulder carry strap made out of an old Guitar strap.
The lid also has in addition to the clasp fasteners, a velcro strap that is held captive on the lid with some coach bolts.
Get to the Gig - remove the lid and you don't lose the (guitar) strap or velcro strap (cos they're captive!!)

Ok the next problem was after the acquisition of my vibe pedal, it was too low and you couldn't access the on/off button. So I cut out some more aluminium and made a hinged base plate for the vibe. It is held up with a retracting hinging "device" courtesy of a "door closing" device that was in the skip at work.
These devices are a great bit of engineering and swivel, hinge adjust. I used one on a device I made to hold my pod - it slips under the carrying straps on my combo and hinges/displays the Pod very nicely.

Here's the vibe held up on the hinged plate with the modified door closer (a la SPOD;))

A great little DIY project that has saved me some money to go towards some new 'balls ;)
