I'm learning So far away by staind. I have a four string bass although the song requires a 5, it doesn't use the highest string so I figured id give it a shot. The problem is I'm a beginner and quite frankly I don't know exactly how to tune my bass to the required notes. I'm 99% sure the largest string is the B but every time I get it low enough it starts buzzing on the metal fret border things (as you can tell I'm a VERRY recent beginner). Do I need a 5 string to play this song at all? Or is there anything I can do to tune it that low and it not buzz? Someone please help me

Hello and welcome. I have one of my Stingrays set up to BEAD tuning, your bass will need a full set up to accommodate such a change. action, intonation, neck relief will need to be adjusted, so its playable, sounds in tune when you fret it and is buzz free, the slots in the nut will need to be made wider to accommodate the thicker strings. A full set up.
