Some body shake me awake! And I was still on the ride from the ElcBlu BingoName.

Hey - that is great. This is the stuff that takes a brand to the next level.

Realaithy Time. OK - It Looks Great - But How Do We Hear It?????

Still - if we all want one - then why not make them and sell it?

Life is just not fair. Not like I need another Bongo anyway. They don't make trucks in mahogany for my good luck.

Mr. Mabongohagony has the distinct pleasure of owning 1 of the 3 mentioned, a one off HH from Bass Player Live. Yeah we all hate him just a little bit... :) j/k

I'm crossing my fingers that we'll see something like this for the 2013 10th anniversary Bongo... :p

Why wait so long? If people are lining up to buy it - then give the public what it wants!

But - nobody has really said how the tone differs. Does anyone know from first hand experience (not theory)?

I spent some time with Bongos when they were first introduced. I put one on my "must buy" list, and when the Mahogany HH was offered at BPL, grabbed it up.

The heart of the Bongo's tone is the electronics- preamp, pups, and 4-band eq. We know what this produces.

Mahogany as a tonewood is deep, dense, and resonant- Rich and PHAT.
It's hard to define sound in words.
Best I can offer is to take the voicing of a Bongo, with an added, strong punch and depth provided by the Mahogany body and BE maple neck.
The notes are clear, even, and I get some killer overtones in the mix.
The HH configuration puts it all over the top too.
It's not too shabby. (understatement of the year!)

I have other great basses with their own character, but the Mahogany Bongo is a one-off in more ways than one.

Hat's off to EBMM for building it.

Every one of the few hundred 30th Anniversary 'hog bodied Stingray owners who have also owned a regular "selected hardwood" bodied Stingray has first hand experience. The mahogany gives a warmer tone and, to venture into scientific terminology, is more growly.
