What do you think a 1978 Music Man Stingray bass is worth?

It's a little beat-up (I like to say it has character...), but still sounds increadible!

It's a clear coat wood grain, with a maple neck. I'm thinking about getting it re-finished (there are cracks in the clear coat), but I'm not sure if I should do it.

I've seen them selling for $1500 and up sometimes on eBay. however if you refinish the guitar it will generally lose it's value. My 77 is the same way. 3 tone burst with wear about the spot where your arm rests on the bass. Checkering and a couple healthy dings - character!

No doubt, it is cool. Don't refinish it, keep it that way. If it looks new, people will never ask about it. If it has character, people will always want to know.
