2 pickup Stingray?

As I understand this is a forthcoming new model from EB.

Pre-EB there was a 2 pickup model called the Sabre(the bass player in an 80s band called King played one). Will the new MM be a Sabre, essentially? For some reason the Sabre never really took off. Whenever I've seen one for sale on eBay it has attracted very little interest.

So, what's the deal with this new option, and why will it be popular this time around?

(Don't flame me guys, I'm very new to the forum, this a genuine question)

Could you elaborate? I've never seen a Sabre in the flesh, let alone played one, and know very little about it. I'm thinking of the twin humbucker SR here, so how will it be different from a Sabre? Are you saying it won't simply be a 2 pickup SR, but a completely different model?
 
This may have been answered already, but are the single pickup versions going to have the bongo-style pickups in them from this point forward? Or will they still be made with the 'old' style?

No it will not be called a sabre, and yes Ernie Ball also did a version of the Sabre.
And yes Sabre's just weren't what we all hopped it was gonna be, Although Big Poppa did fix it pretty good it think it was too late for the Public to give the new ones an honest try, The new Stingray does do the Job and then some, The Reason why you ask?

New and Better design anddddddddddddd The regular size pickups, 5 Way Switch Etc.

I live in the chilly wastelands of Northern England, I fear the new models will not make it that far. :( (I'd never heard of the Bongo until visiting this site, still I hadn't touched a bass for 10 years until 9 months ago, that's a long lay off)

However, I may be visiting San Francisco next year, so that will be my chance to try and (maybe) buy. :)

That would make it a very expensive holiday. Perhaps I should go the whole hog when I'm there and buy a Bongo too. I'd save money though, as it would cost so much less than it would here in "Rip-off Britain". As you guys know, I've just bought a fretless, I'm so impressed with it, I now want a fretted. In fact, I need to play now, my baby is calling me. :D
 
I got to play the 2 pickup String Ray at NAMM and thought it was pretty cool. I think I might have to get a new String Ray.... I have been thinking about ordering one... just don't know what color combo I want.... it will have a maple fretboard though....
