20th Anniversary Silo Question

Hi all:

I asked this before, nobody responded, but I'd really like to hear from the forum.

I'm set on buying a 20th Silo, I've been obsessing since playing one and reading the comments on this forum. My only remaining decision is, rosewood board+matching headstock, or maple board+natural headstock.

Can anyone compare the rosewood and maple boards on this particular guitar? I played a rosewood, and loved it. I am wondering if a little brightness might make her sound even better, so I'm kicking around maple, but don't have one of those around to play, and won't anytime soon. I am familiar with the rosewood vs. maple topic in general, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the 20th Silo specifically.

Also, the rosewoods seem much more abundant than the maples...maybe that says something, too....?

Maybe some of the EBMM folks have had the chance to play both?

sorry, i havent played a rosewood 20th yet, and am DYING to do so!!!! looks like i'll never get the chance either which is a bit of a drag.

however i do love my maple 20th, but its getting so dirty now, which is the downside of maple with the oil/wax finish. the 20th being so beautiful you'd want to keep it like that forever, so i would go the rosewood. but the feel and tone of maple might be just that little bit better......

Thanks Foggy, but gawd, that was demorializing. Compared to Tristan, I sound like I'm wearing boxing gloves when I play.

Rob, thanks...do you ever find yourself craving more warmth (sorry, that sounds creepy)? To the extent that your amp EQ can't handle? One of the deciding factors in buying one is that while I have several dual humbucker guitars, none of them can match the clean warmth of the 20th Silo. That was going to be the main role for this guitar, but Tristan shows pretty clearly it can do the overdriven thing absurdly well.

That was going to be the main role for this guitar, but Tristan shows pretty clearly it can do the overdriven thing absurdly well.

yes i definitely want more warmth! I want to try a rosewood 20th desperately to see if there's much difference, i suspect there is only minimal tone difference though, so i'm trying to not beat myself up about it.
