250K or 500K pots?

Howdy all! Just wondering what you people thought about the two. I am not too familiar with all the electronic things, but I might be thinking of replacing the volume and tone pots on my Silo for 500K. So what IS exactly the difference, and what will it do to my sound of the guitar and especially TONE!?!?! Will I have MORE tonal range if I put the 500K pots, or is that with 250K. I replaced the stock Silo pups with DiMarzio Breeds which are pretty hot and sound good. I use the tone and volume controls a lot to get different sounds from the guitar, and I especially like to clean up the sound of the distortion during many times when I play. So once again, would the 500K be better for a wider range of tones rather than 250K? I am already getting a lot out of what I have, but am wondering if it could be even better. PLus it would give me the chance to get solid shafts on the pots if I got them since I put the dome knobs on my Silo (on a side note ).

I was reading about this last night on Dan Torres's website.

He makes them and sells them (actually 2 more powerful ones). But he also explains what they will do with your guitars output. Very interesting. Check it out. I'm thinking of getting one myself. Seem like a very cheap upgrade.

HERE is a very comprehensive article on the electrical properties of guitar pickups.

In a nutshell, the load on your pickups (the combined resistance from your pots) affects their resonant frequency.

In general, increasing the value of your pots will make your guitar sound brigher. Conversely, lowering their value will darken the sound.

Try it and see. You may really love the brightened sound. And it's a lot cheaper than replacing your pickups.
