At the beginning of the year, I promised Dude I'd buy a Bongo from him this year if he stays sober. So, while shopping for Straplocks (went with schallers by the way - and Wonderdog I still think you're crazy for even suggesting I take a drill
to my baby)
, I decided to pick up my first Bongo and experience this buzz you all seem to be highly effected with.
Now, and I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I do love my Stingray. More so than any of my classic Fenders. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm not feeling the Bongo love. The look, the feel, it just wasn't there. And then I picked up a Sterling. Oh my, now that's more like it. Classic lines. Thin neck. I'm diggin this bass.
So my real question is, can you achieve the same tones with a 2H Sterling as with a Bongo. Is it the dual hum's that give you that sound, or is it the design (mass) of the body, coupled with the neck? And then there's the Sterling where the second p/u is a single coil. What the heck is that? And how does the sound compare with 2H?
Okay, enough with the questions. I do love wandering around GC and could ask a lot more questions, but I'll leave those for later........
