poor s.o.b. came in the shop yesterday......wanted his old beat up tele refreted...and painted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
quick look at the neck pocket and pots.....shure enough......52 tele..not even a resoldered wire...all original.........frets , case and all......
he said he bought it for 100.00 bucks back in 58 or so.....wanted it fixed up.
it was like antiques road show or something....after i told him it was worth 15000.00 or so...... i told him he is fobidden to refret (which it didn't actually need) or paint it or anything else...... as it would go from 15000.00 to 6000.00 , then i offered him a nice shinny n.o.s. custom shop tele. he didn't bite though....
he's one happy ole s.o.b now though......

Yes, you did good. Some others would have hood winked the old guy and ripped him off. Excellent story.

Tommy, nice job!!! Yes you did good and it renews peoples faith that there are people out there that won't/don't take advange of people. I also agree with SteveB you will see him again. When you do, have him get it appraised from someone reputable.

Great story Tommy. But, you did not have to ask if you did good. You KNOW you did. I agree with most, this guy will come back to you as well as others. Good things will come of that....you'll see. :cool:
