hey guys whats up. I am having some trouble getting any sparkling harmonics on the 5th fret. The ones on the 12th are good, as well as the 7th, but at the 5th they sounds almost like im muting the strings. I dont think it is technique cause even since my first guitar (yamaha) when i was 12 (turned 23 the other day  ) i could get good nice harmonics out of it. Oh yeah I have an Axis, its real nice. Just dealing with some minor issues such as this and maybe some trem issues cause the guitar doesnt hold in tune very well I dont know what it up...help me my peoples!

Fresh strings, intonate, Lots of Gain!
Hope that helps make her sing :)

haha thanks fellas. I mean the strings are pretty new, I dont know how to intonate etc...Maybe i do need to get it set up? Whenever I dive bomb and come back up the strings are sharp, its weird...I talked about it before I dont know if you guys saw, but would that point towards me having to get it set up? HOw would i go about intonate etc...

check here. there might be something in the faq: http://www.ernieball.com/site/faq_guitar.php

you could also do a search in the forum. ive seen many posts explaining setups here

Intonate by moving the saddles backward or forward.

Start by hitting 12th fret harmonic. Then fret the note at 12th fret. should be the same pitch.

If the FRETTED note is FLAT, move the saddle FORWARD. (remember by F-F-F)

If sharp, then backward.

A couple years ago I saw a former set up employee at eb do it and he used a harmonic even higher up the fretboard for better accuracy. He had bettter equipment.

But the 12th fret will work fine.
KEITH

A Smartly Stated (remember by A - $ - $) description on intonation. Well done Keith. I wish I had thought of putting it that way.

Nor... er I mean Keith

i do harmonics actually over the fret itself, not in between them, i find it makes a much better harmonic, i can do them just fine
