first off I am using a epiphone les paul standard. Three weeks ago about three little e strings broke in the same day. I gave guitar enter a call and they told me other people were calling with the same issue. So I called up ernie ball and they decided to send me three free packs. 1/3 of the e strings had the same issue. So yesterday I went to guitar center and I picked up another 2 packs of these strings and I also got 5 .8 e strings. 4 e strings have broken within the last 12 hours. The .9's I used to get at target lasted longer then that. C'mon now thats some poor quality. I know for a fact that the problem is not my guitar because I changed the bridge to make sure of the problem.

I don't think you do know for a fact. If you're breaking one specific string in the same place repeatedly, it's probably your guitar.

If you have concerns about the strings, contact customer service and they'll discuss with you to figure it out.

Coming on here and proclaiming poor quality isn't going to get you very far. And as Sterling Ball said in the other thread ... don't believe everything GC salesmen tell you ...

Thanks bro but I am already sure that its not my guitar. Ive never had this problem with daddario's .9 . Erbie ball is the only company that I know of that makes .8's and thats what I like on my les paul. I have it set up for .8 and its staying that way. My guitar is practically brand knew and like I said up top, I did change the bridge to ensure that it was the strings fault. not mine.

.008 is the thinnest string on the market, and are incredibly light. The other company you mentioned makes them in 2 different electric sets, and there are several other companies that offer .008s. Give them a try and see what happens.

If the strings keep breaking it is either technique (strings are too light) or it is the guitar.

Did you try EB 9s?

I know he can't answer, but if the pics in the other thread are any indication, I'd say there's a metal burr in the stoptail that's cutting into the string. It didn't unravel at the ball end - it snapped. And I seriously doubt that it's a manufacturer issue. Besides, it's an Epi Les Paul. I doubt they're using high quality bridges in those.

Guitar strings from Target . . . hah!

Surely it's an easy matter to tell whether it snapped or unwound? Maybe the OP can post a picture of the "unwound" string?

I'm suprised string companies still make 8's - they seem like more trouble thanm they're worth to me!
