So I was at family BBQ yesterday at the home of my super-talented cousin who plays guitar/lap steel/banjo/piano in an Alt.Country band called Hank Floyd. We got to talking about the beat up Sterling that his singer owns and I was thinking that mabye it could snap it up cheap from him since he really doesn't play bass that much. My cousin proceeds to tell me that that bass was given to him by Colin Greenwood of Radiohead who is a good friend of his:eek:and that he would never sell it:( He then tells me that they have used that bass on every studio track they have ever recorded for the band(Hank Floyd). They had tried recording with other basses(their bass player uses a jazz bass) and always ended up going back and re-recording the tracks with the Sterling. I guess it's a small world when it comes to EBMM basses :) .........If anyone wants to hear any of the tracks they used the Sterling on they're right here......http://www.myspace.com/hankfloyd

I know that Colin has used a Stingray in the past: You can see him playing a sunburst Ray 4 in the video for "Just". I've never seen him play a Sterling, but perhaps that's why he gave it away.;) Although he's been using a P bass for several years now.

Cool story!

If anyone is interested I can try to get a picture of it. My cousin Ray told me that it was signed by every member of Radiohead. Mabye Gav can use it for his site? I saw it a few years back at Noah's house but he never told me that Colin gave it to him.I just know that it was really beat up. It is sunburst if I remember correctly and i'm 99% sure it was a Sterling but mabye i'm wrong:o
