I don't know if you guys know what anime is but it's basically animation from japan. So anyway, I was watching an anime called Beck that is about a japanese band trying to make it big in the US. And the bass player was using a stingray. I was like, "sweeeeeeeeet".

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV)

[ adapted from Beck (manga) ]

Alternative title:
ベック (Japanese)
Beck

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Shounen

Plot Summary: Tanaka Yukio, better known by his nickname Koyuki is a 14 year old who feels disconnected from life in general. Through the act of saving a mismatched dog, he meets guitarist Minami Ryuusuke, and becomes involved in Ryuusuke's new band BECK. Koyuki's life starts to change as the band struggles towards fame.

Of all the weird places to see a Stingray. Guess I'm surprised to see a specific US built instrument drawn into a Japanese anime. Was EB in on this?

Not only MM brand are on this anime, but also Gi?s?n, F?nd?r, Ib?n?z, P?ul R??d Sm?th, and some nice guitar stomp boxes and amplifiers. :D

I'm not sure about that picture. I watched the beck anime months ago. "Taira" is the bassist's name, and he always play his white StingRay. :D

could this be a secret collaboration of all the major musical instrument/equipment makers to heavily expand into the asian market and possibly undercut the production of cheap knockoff instruments?

or could this be a move by knockoff instrument makers to increase local revenue with instruments that mimic the appearance of those found in this seemingly harmless show...

..hm...

yes I am pretty sure about it being a stingray. sorry about that first picture, it was a picture I just found randomly on the internet. i would make some of my own screencaps but my friend borrowed my dvd that has the episodes on and and hasn't given it back yet  I was also wondering if MM knew anything about this o_O
