Active or Passive

I did a search of the forums, but couldn't find an answer to my specific question. I'm ready to buy an EB Jr. volume pedal. I don't know if I should get active or passive because I use the Boss BCB-60 pedal board.

That board is set up so that the cable from the guitar goes into the pedal board and then out to the effects. So I don't know if going first into the pedal board turns it into an active signal, or leaves it passive.

Can anyone help figure out which pedal is appropriate?

Well, that's just a generic pedalboard- it depends what effects you're going to use on it.

In general, the Boss effects have an internal buffer that's decent. So if you're putting your volume pedal afterward you should aim for the 25k (low impedance) version.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The volume pedal will go first in the chain. So it will go like this:

guitar -> pedal board input -> volume pedal -> other effects, etc.

My question is does the fact that it goes from guitar to the pedal board input and then to the volume pedal create an active signal? Is it a powered signal once it goes into the power board input, or does it remain a passive signal until it hits a buffered effect?

It's a passive signal...

Yep, OC's right. Your board won't buffer it so it's passive. Again, if you do put it at the end then you can consider it active. That would probably minimize any effect of the volume pedal on your tone as well.
