Advice on getting an EVH or an Axis

Hello everybody!

I rarely post, but I'm an eager Music Man fan (I've had a Blue Dawn Petrucci for 3 years now). I've dreamed of having a yellow/amber EVH for almost 15 years now. Since I'm about graduate in the near future I might even be able to get one sometime soon.

My question is: the EVH's on the market being over 10 years old, do you think it might be wiser to get a new Axis instead? Cause I'm definetely gonna play the guitar actively so it should be in a playable condition (frets not too worn out for example). On the other hand, a new Axis here in Finland costs around 3100$, so getting a used EVH from Ebay would propably be a more affordable alternative.

Any thoughts?

Edit: spelling

I don't know that a new Axis will be more expensive than used EVH in your country.

How about used Axis? or buy used Axis on Ebay?

Yes, a used Axis might also be a possibility.

Considering the price on used EVH vs. new Axis, I've never seen a used EVH(a regular one, that is) cost over 3000$, but I haven't been actively looking so I'm definetely not saying this is the abolute truth of the matter.

Thanks for replying!

I own an EVH (you can check the pic's in the links below) and I personally prefer it to the Axis. That's only based on the position of the switch. But if I had to play an Axis, I'd get used to it pretty quick. The color you want in an EVH will definitely cost you way way more, trust me. Other colors do however go up and down in price, purple is one I've noticed that still be reasonable in price.

I guess a used Axis is the way to go. And the PU-switch is in the same area as my Pets's, also.

Thanks for your oppinions, my good men!

Colin: I really envy you for that EVH. That's excactly what I crave :) Looks veeeery nice!

yeah...i would go for the EVH! it is a great guitar and it is an investment too!

If you buy an EVH to actively play, especially if you're gigging or jamming out with others, be sure you don't mind it getting dinged, scratched, etc... That's 90% of the reason why I figured an Axis would be a better choice for me. I'd like to have an EVH, as I do prefer the switch location, but I wouldn't want to risk it getting messed up. It'd be a collectors item for me more so than an instrument.

I dont have an EVH and the axis is the most expensive one ive ever onwed. so i dont even want to take my axis out to a gig. I ll take my IBANEZ to get dinged or scratched instead. thats what japanese guitars for...:D

I hope Axis will be out of production soon,haha...:D then the axis will be discussed in the same way as EVH here.
