just bought a ashdown envelope pedal , i thought being ashdown it would be reasonably good , so i dident try it and bought it of the net . it came today , i pluged it up and i have never been so disapointed . it dont do nothing , no its not faulty it works ok but it makes my sr5hh sound like a cheap copy. also the envelope dont envelope . no matter how i twidle the knobs it just dont do it . just to put a point the dod fx25 which is a quarter of the price is far superiour . yea its got a nice little meter on it and a very nice case , well constructed , put it dont do nothing . :mad:

Most pedals are set for passive instruments, read the manual and see if it is set on passive and if there is a screw or tiny switch that will flick the pedal to active mode.
 
ahh yes the grievances of pedals.... I bought a boss syb 3 bass synth and it has been sooo hard to get a usuable sound out of it... I have gotten pretty close... but the tracking on the thing is so terrible that it renders the thing useless anyway...
 
i used to have one of the old mutrons before mine got stolen. after using that its really hard to like anything else (at least in my case).
 
I saw an Ashdown recently on TB. Wonder if that's the one you got. I love playing around with pedals. For envelope filters, I really like my vintage Ibanez flanger, have had US bassballs which were fun, just got a CEB-3 which is cool and a Digitech bass synth wah which is also a lot of fun. Practical? No. But I can sneak a few weird sounds at the guys during gigs.

Sorry to hear about the Ashdown. Like Dargin says, maybe you need to adjust it or do some playing around with it. Also, I've found if you run your instrument gain real high through it and back off on your amplification, effects usually sound a lot better.

sorry to hear about this Funky... I've got one of those at home right now from the store and was contemplating keeping it 'cause I kinda like what it does.:o
The thing I have found out about the Ashdown pedals is that they definitely have their own sound. Although it's an envelope filter it's not a 'standard' envelope filter, it's Ashdown's take on the effect with some extra weirdness :D

anywho, i do have the DOD envelope too and am gonna keep it in tandem just cause they both do different groovaciusness-nessy things......

anywho....
 
IIRC, all the Ashdown pedals say that they are not for use with active basses. Seems to me like it wouldn't be hard to work around that if I was a pedal maker, but oh well.
 
aparently they are ok for active , thats what it says in the sales blur. its got an input and an output . it says that the envelope depends on the input being set right . tryed every comination , but no joy. even if i did manage to get a good sound out of this thing i still wont be keeping it as anything that takes that much effort is no good to me . thats why i play a stingray i just plug the thing in and away i go.
