Any Frank Marino/Mahogany Rush Fans?

Well with all of the heavier music that I have been spinning lately, I have forgotten my true and original influences on guitar, and one such influence was Frank Marino...wicked blues shredder I might add, and I think I may have landed his tone, so even though I am soaking in sweat (you should see the look on the neighbor's faces), I'm flying high oooohhh it feels great to RELEASE on these EBMM's don't it...WHOOOWHEEE!

No offence Paulo, but as I remember it, Frank was kind of a nut as I remember. Thought that Jimi(not JimiD) spoke to him from the beyond.....Don't get me wrong...he was/maybe still is, a great player!

Oh yeah Raz!!!!!! Frank was one of my favs growing up,the Mahogany Rush Live album is a classic!!!! Frank Marino and also Pat Travers were early influences on me for sure!Nice one!

That was just a rumor that stuck with him. It was said that after Hendrix died his spirit entered Frank`s soul and thats why he could play like Hendrix!!!!! He`s often asked about that and he still laughs about it today!

When I was in my late teens/early 20's....I was playing an SG at Guitar center in Hollywood. Some guy came up, and said he liked the way I was playing, and asked to jam a bit. I said sure! Lets do it! We played a bit, and I asked his name. He said Pat Travers, and it was around the time that "Boom Boom Out go the Lights" was a big radio hit. He told me he was going to get me a record deal, took my # and left. That was the last time I saw or heard from him. F^%# Pat Travers! LOL

Non taken Jon, I heard the same, something about him in an institiute, seeing Hendrix's spirit, talking to him and stuff, regardless he was still huge for me as a youngin...

I love Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.. mainly for their Hendrix covers.
Hey, the way Jimi was? He probably WOULD come back and shoot the breeze, share some licks, etc. and then get back on his spaceship and fly away...

I'm a HUGE Hendrix fan, since I was about 12 or 13, and I am *DULY* impressed with Frank Marino's solos on "All Along The Watchtower".. they are very faithful to Jimi's solos on his cover of that song.

I think I'll dig that out tonight and have a listen!

I saw him in Toronto at R&R Heaven, the best part was, on this one tune he refused to end the song, and he just kept jamming and the band seemed confused...it was awkward for them, but cool for the fans.

i did read in guitar player that frank taught himself to play while he was in a mental instution.he said the hendrix thing was a myth, but whatever that guy rocks get the live album it will floor you.

My favorite is Strange Universe. I first heard it in 1975 and was just blown away. I just recently got the reissue on cd. It still sounds great 30 years later.
