Anybody try FerraGlide Saddles?

Has anyone used these at all, and would recommend them? I was thinking of changing the vintage saddles on my Silo to something like the ones EBMM make for the piezo equiped guitars. I'm not too sure if EB sells them separatly, but these looked pretty cool for string saving saddles made from Stainless Steel with that insert.

Are you breaking strings? Or just want to change the sound of the guitar (the vintage saddles are quite bright).

I've got a Graph Tech Tune-o-matic bridge on my Morse; same kind of deal on the saddles (except they're piezo saddles). I love it- strings never break and it sounds great. But- the sound is different that the original bridge; a little less resonant when unplugged.

From what I recall on this board, some folks love 'em and some hate 'em. Some find them brighter, some find them less bright. Go figure.

If you want to get other EBMM saddles, you can probably get them from customer service. I just replaced the vintage saddles on my Luke and they were reasonably priced.

Well I dont have a problem with the sound of the vintage saddles at all. But they are a little uncomfortable for my picking hand when I rest the palm at the edge. It's not a flat surface, so it's kind a irritating for the hand so therefore I wanted to try out the block ones and find out which are the best.
With which saddles did you replace the vintage ones on the Luke?

Ah, ok I see. How about the saddles on the Axis SS then? They're flat like the piezo-type and you can get them right from EBMM.

On my Luke I just got straight replacements (vintage saddles). The old ones had significant wear and kept pinching strings in several places. I ground 'em down but couldn't fix the problem, so just got new ones.

I see. Well, what's the difference between the saddles on the Axis SS and the saddles with the Piezo, and the ones they sell at StewMac for example. I know that the piezo ones have a PIEZO in it, but they have these little ball bearings where the strings actually rest on right? I think the JP has that too, and that looks interesting to me and also very functional.

Hi, I put axis ss saddles on my silo special and they fit and work great, they make the guitar sound better as well, do it, plus if you use the axis ss saddles your keeping the guitars hardware all EB which is cool -

The Axis SS saddles don't have a pivot point like a ball bearing, etc. They're one piece metal. The Graph Tech ones have a graphite insert where the strings rest in the saddle- that's the difference. Physically, they look similar.

I use ferraglide on my blue luke...

sounds OK but does not stay in tune as good as before escpecialy with the whammy bar...

I'm with you with the design, I prefer the piezzo's , so I have a rad red piezzo, and it works perfectly...never breaks a string, stays in tune !

I have these saddles on my #1 red Axis. I cant say that I have noticed a change in the sound at all. They just stop you breaking strings! I cant recommend them enough! I am going to put them on all my guitars.

I also have regular Graphtech saddles on my EVH. I put them on to make is slightly less bright, which did the trick nicely.

Shame that I am heading to the wrong coast next week, or I would bring my Axis with me for you to try!
