I am looking at a jp7, my local store has a stealth black one (black hardware, all matte black body and neck) and a gloss one.

For the people who have one/or other satin music mans, does the finish wear easily? i have and esp that had a satin neck and it wore off almost instantly. If it wears easily ill just go ahead and get the gloss jp7, but if it is a tough finish i will get the satin.

It's a durable finish, but it will 'gloss' up where you touch it most (like polishing...)
Easy to restore though with a light scotch pad...

I have a Wolfgang Stealth and a Reverend Eastsider, both with flat black finishes.

I've gigged with both and had no issues with either finish.

But some people are harder on finishes than I am.

I have a JP6 stealth black and like @xjbebop said, it does turn into a glossy sort of a finish over time. Specially the areas where it gets touched more, like the place just below the two pickups (near the 3 way selector), I place my pinky there for support and the pick also touches the body. The forearm scoop is another area. However I've never tried to restore it back. For me it's normal "wear and tear" to be honest and it will happen again :)

Wondered the same thing. Had a satin black Godin for a while that quickly developed the Polish patches. Wasn't a big deal, but wasn't a $3k guitar either.

A satin finish is exactly the same (or verry close) finish as that wich is used on glossy guitars. The difference is that mate finishes arent buffed out to get glossy. But when you play the guitar and rub certain areas you will do just that. some mate finishes may be a bit more resiliant to this but at the end all of them will become more glossy in areas.
