Curious as to how much you use it, and really your overall thoughts on a piezo equipped Ray/Sterling.

As 'miracles' come and go, the day I had been working toward arrived;
- I wandered into the 'Bass' dept and declared myself ready to order a new SR5 *fretless*
- I had already read a report on the Sterling / fretless / piezo
- my EBMM sales 'consultant' advised me the piezo was available on SR5

Within a month of bringing home my long waited-for 'baby', I was back at the shop ordering a new SR5 maple / piezo;
- how can I describe a *Miracle*?

Depending on your music taste and inclinations, especially if you're old enough to get arrested for winking at the 'diner dollies'; if you really love playing bass, and you really love playing a Music Man bass, don't let life go by without playing a Music Man *** / Piezo bass !!!

As a Bongoloid I can't speak specifically to Rays or Sterlings, but I have noticed something about my Bongo's pee-ay-zoe that might be pertinent.

I also own a Carvin fretless with a piezo in it. That bass displays typical (from what I've read) piezo behavior: The piezo on that bass by itself sounds:

- Thin
- "Acoustic"
- "Woody"

The piezo on my Bongo does not display these characteristics. I can't get the bass to sound woody or acoustic, and for that matter the piezo soloed doesn't sound all that thin to me. But I really do like what it does to the overall tone...adds a nice edge and bite without getting trebly or strident. I like to think of it as a dash of Tabasco added to the overall Bongo goodness.

I keep a bit of the piezo rolled in all the time. The bass just sounds better that way.

This may or may not apply to the piezo on the Sterling or Ray. I'd really like to know if it does.

I had an SR5 with piezos. A fretted version.

I would have liked it better with fretless, if I could play fretless.

But if Shawn Colvin calls me up for a tour, I'm taking a Bongo with piezos.

If Barenaked Ladies calls........nah.

In my area, if you're mostly deaf to begin with, or 'wfo' 'rockin'n stompin', better to just play loud and save your (piezo) money for another BONGO

In quieter, more intimate environments, especially 'private affairs' with a subtle but 'hetero' 'mood', a dash of piezo acts like a sonic 'tenderizer', enough to soften the toughest 'birds';
- women may, or may not be 'ladies', but
- 'barenaked' is what they *really* want
- 'poor things'

Piezo, Piezo, Piezo!

Travis, I've not heard them on a fretted Sterling or Stingray, but have them on my Bongo. I am sold - Piezo's are damn-near a must have for me...

May not demand much attention soloed, but love it in the mix!

I like my piezo, it gives out a huge more dry sticky punch. It's toatlly cool.
I recommend it, although I don't use it all the time, it is nice to have more options, and be able to experiment with other kinds of sounds. Plus it's stupposedly great on fretless basses, but I dunno.
