I was wanting to refinish my existing neck on my AX40 but got a really good deal on an EVH Wolfgang special neck. Has anyone tried this before? I know it will potential need new holes drilled but I am curious. Not worried about resale. This is a everyday player.

Doubt it if the ax40 has the same width heel as a musicman without routing. Was under the impression the fender wolfgangs have fender sized neck pockets. But I dont know doesn't take much to try.

The neck has to match the pocket exactly, and has to be the exact same length, or there will be intonation and sustain nightmares. I doubt anyone has tried it before.
I'm pretty sure that the EVH necks have a "shelf", so they use a shorter pocket than the AX40.
