Hello my forum family members,

I'll be leaving tomorrow bright and early for a trip to Asia for EB. Bill and I are going to visit a bunch of different distributors and also go visit the Shanghai Musik Messe. I'll be in Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Shanghai and Seoul and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post them online for you guys so that you can meet some of our representatives in Asia. It should be really fun! Wish me luck that I don't get that bird flu.... :confused:

I'll be back on the 24th of October, if I have chances to get online I'll post a little diary for you. See ya online soon!

Well, I speak Indonesian which is of absolutely no value since you're not going there, but I will still volunteer. Kuala Lumpur is Malay, and that's pretty close to the same language.

Meaning I can order spicy peanut sauce chicken in both countries.

And little else.

We will miss you, Beth. Go forth and spread the gospel. I have good friends in China (a true EBMM fanatic) and Jakarta (Aussie Mark) so see if you can get them posters while you're out.

Be safe. Post often. Eat no dogs. Monkey, though - that's pretty good.

Hi All!

I'm back, all in one piece, very very tired, but also in awe of the great trip I've just returned from. I will do a full report soon, I've got to get all the funny pics off of my digi camera and find some way to upload them all onto the site.

Highlights include:

-having fun and discussing the potential of this awesome part of the world with all of my Asian friends at various distributorships around the world
-the energy of China and the growing Music China fair in Shanghai
-watching the sacrifice of a boa in "Snake Alley" in Taipei and many people in the snake restaurant enjoying all parts of snake food ("It's good for your skin!"). Guess what? They drink the blood too...
-an array of gastronomic delights: goat stomach (Bill ate it, not me), chicken's feet, sea cucumber, lots and lots of raw fish, enough Chinese food to sink a battleship (yuk. I am SO OVER Chinese food -- someone get me an In-N-Out burger -- quick!), roasted piglet, pig snout, a huge alien-like squid, and Rover On A Plate. These people eat EVERYTHING....
-lots and lots of "ROUND EYE" jokes
-waaaay too many souveniers (Hey Big Poppa, do you like kimonos?)
-karaoke with the Japanese distributors in Tokyo
-an AWESOME tour of Hong Kong given by the one, the only Frank Lee from Tom Lee Music along with a great discussion of horror movies
-the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur and the even taller (tallest building in the world) 101 Building in Taipei, Taiwan
-a great tour of the richy richy houses in Singapore given by Tan Chi Sin from Excel Music
-a wonderful dinner overlooking the city lights of Singapore from the 70th floor a la Simon Peter Tan from Sinamex in Singapore
-the 10 minutes I got to hang out on the beach at Singapore's Shangri-La Resort before being off to meetings (wrong, just wrong that I couldn't hang out on the beach longer and play with the monkeys)
-the huge music mall in Seoul Korea followed by a very very tasty Korean BBQ meal

and the list goes on and on... THANK YOU SO MUCH BP for sending us on this trip! It was very very valuable and I'll be working on a full report this week and next week.

Did you try the chicken's feet? I've had duck feet before.. kinda crispy.. traditional dish on Chinese New Year.

Be glad you got "ROUND EYE" jokes.. we're normally called "white devils". My best friend's mother used that term a lot... hahahaha. (She was from Canton... China, not Ohio!)

Sounds like you had a great trip. I hope you directed all your new Asian friends to the forum!
 
Yeah, tried the chicken feet too.... tastes like... chicken... I guess its good for your skin too, along with snake body parts...

Funny thing is that I realized what the difference is between western and eastern food culture -- Americans eat food for the taste and texture, Chinese eat food for health reasons. It doesn't matter if it doesn't taste good or if the texture is awful, they eat it for what it does to your body. Amazingly, I didn't get sick anywhere, even in some pretty shady places. I'm getting a burrito for lunch today - watch, I get sick. HAHAHAHAH

The round eye jokes were jokes that Bill and I were cracking about ourselves... GOD KNOWS what they were calling us behind our backs...
