Hi All. I just "killed" my squier strat today. I have had this guitar for 20 years and was using it as my second guitar to my Slio spl. I had a Floyd rose instaled back then. And just ordered a set of Bill Lawrence pick ups........
Now here is my question.
How good are the OLP'S I would tranfer the Floyd and put in the pick ups when they come in

Advice!!!!!!!

Which OLP?

A friend just bought his son the OLP Axis. Seems nice for such an inexpensive guitar. Needed a decent setup though.

I guess you'd have to do a bit of routing to get the floyd on there?

Uh, like I said, the OLP Axis nice for a $200 guitar. I thought it had pretty nice tone, though I'm not a humbucker guy and don't really have a great frame of reference.

I liked the neck, though I wanted to fool with the action.

Overall it was a good cheap guitar.

Has anyone played an OLP? The price is just out of this world and I was just curious about the quality of them.
I did a brief, informal review of the OLP MM4 a couple weeks ago... You can read it here:

Thanks for the info, the write up was fantastic. I'm with you all , for the money, how bad can it be? I went and test drove a EB/MM Axis at the local music store today, was really impressed with the feel of the guitar itself, loved the looks, the accessories were top notch and the extra touch put into the crafting were unbeatable, but man the worst thing was prevalent, the strings were OLD AS DIRT and the setup was all out of whack, intonation was off and strings were dead, it took some of the luster out. The store was having a "clearance" sale and I was told for $1000 bucks it was mine, but I still want to look around to try some more out to maybe find that one special guitar that looks and plays like it was made for you, and maybe even find that "deal of alifetime". I was just looking at the OLP as maybe a holdover until I can get the real deal.
Thanks

By the way, I was just up at Guitar Center in Chicago last week, and if you decide to get the OLP MM1(Axis), make sure it is a new one. I saw that they had replaced the crappy looking "photo-quilt" that was on the originals with a thin quilted maple veneer, which improves the looks of the guitar dramatically.
On a side note, in my opinion, if you have the Floyd Rose bridge anyway, and can install it on the OLP, and the pickups that you like are already coming, I don't think you could go wrong getting one of the OLP guitars. The basics are there. Solid basswood body, and a rock maple neck. All you really would have to do is give it a good setup and have the frets gone over by a pro, and you could have a helluva nice axe.
