Off Topic Axis 7 string, who else wants it?

So... Is this ever going to happen?
Now when ebmm released a hollow body I'd love to see a 7 string version!
And I imagine it's not just me dreaming, is it? ;)
 
Personally, i do not like 7 string guitars, and the axis is already a perfect design. I doubt there will be many who will want this. Plus, there are the JP 7's and Majesty now.
 
Id rather see a silhouette or Silo Spec 7 string than an Axis 7. Just think the body shape lends itself to the look better. Though I have no use for a 7 string.

I disagree. I play 7's quite a bit and I love the shape of the axis for an anchor point for right hand tapping. Not to mention other than the majesty, everyone in the world makes a double offset body. Silos are great but generic looking in my book. The majesty is awesome but I am a bolt on guy. The armada is badass as well, but again, no bolt on and I had trouble getting it to sit comfortably on my body.
But the axis/ass...unbeatable. I love the neck and it is my personal favorite among the line, and I could only make two suggestions for any axis, 6 or 7.
I would add the JP arm scoop and make it a 12" radius. But I love it as it is, pickups an all. My rosewood ass is my all time favorite guitar and I will be buried with with it...won't even leave it for my kids!
 
I love my Axis guitars... I can't see it as a 7. I think the extra width on the neck would kill the playability and comfort of the neck.The Wolfgang had a very similar, but wider and flatter neck (12 or 15) and they never played as well as the Axis. It's just a hard sell on the Axis for me.

I tend to like the Silo Spec shape... It's like the evolution of the Strat. I think Leo would be very proud of Sterling and Dudley's interpretation of his classic design.

Well, I haven't played a 7 string that I would like to own so far and to me axis is the most playable guitar in the world. Hence why I'd love to see a 7 string incarnation of this great design. And I believe that if ebmm were to start working on it the result would be fantastic. Not to mention that it would also give axis range a whole new recognition from the youngest generation of players, who know very little about how great ebmm guitars are.

JP and Majesty are great lookers (and players to many) but bit lifeless to me due to thin necks and shred kinda design.
A chunky piece of wood and great neck with added B string is what I and most of my guitarist friends are after ;)
 
No interest at all but I dislike 7 stringers, hold no interest to me and except for a select few artists do not like the music being produced with 7 string guitars.
 
I think 7 string guitars, in my opinion.... Are crap. But thats just me. As far as younger generations being interested in 7 strings more than 6, I think is a step in the wrong direction,the guitar as we know it is as perfect an instrument as it can be, and I am always one for change, but this? Nah bro.
 
I agree Sweat, the music being made with these instruments has left a lot to be desired, but Im not trying to knock the original poster, he just posed an honest question that spurred a debate. Like I said..... I think that kind of chug a chug a metal stuff is all bunk in my opinion, but to each their own.
 
I will say I hope someone comes along and blows my mind with a 7 string, then I will change my tune, and I think JP is an awesome artist with the 7 string, hes not even human so he does not count! Lol! But maybe some new guy will come along and bring us something totally different than all the generic 7 string stuff Ive been hearing.
 
This thread could get off the rails quickly. If all you listen to is guitar players that chug chug on a 7 string lord have mercy.
Long, long before guys like Petrucci copied Vai or George Lynch who used a high A string instead of a low B, folks like George Van Eps played 7 strings, and quite well might I add. A new cat to check out would be Charlie Hunter, although he is not really new. He is a newer style player that studied at Berklee and with Joe Satch. So you might think he is okay by your standards. Check him out and let me know how he compares to the inhuman Petrucci. Lenny Breau, Bucky or John Pizzarelli, on and on. The 7 string was new to rock guitar in the mid 80's but certainly not jazz. Lots of possibility with a 7 and great extensions not available on a 6. Chris Broderick is not bad either and he is from my home town... Denver. He does chug a bit but check out some of his other vids.
The allure of the axis for me is the neck carve as it is narrow at the nut...I would buy a 7 sting axis in a heartbeat. I only have JP 's because that is all ebmm offers right now and it is a damn good guitar, but the axis is my favorite ebmm guitar.

I work in a guitar store and where I live (maybe everywhere else possibly), everyone who wants/plays a 7 string all play the exact same music. That music being, metal where every song starts on whatever the lowest note is. I have nothing against the 7 string, but the music it steers people to is incredibly UNcreative.

Unless ofcourse, you are Steve Vai.... or like a bit more range on your guitar.

Honestly I think an Axis 7 string is a great idea, I hate most wide thin neck guitars, so I imagine an Axis version would not be as wide..
 
I have enough trouble with the six strings I already have! :D

Just kidding, but I have no use for a seven string. I've never even tried one.

Wouldn't this potentially help sell a 7 string model then since metal/djent scenes have become so popular??? Not endorsing the everything-sounds-the-same trend, just saying.

I only have one 7 at the moment but it has improved my playing and creativity immensely. Originally I picked it up to cover DT tunes, but more recently I typically use it for clean tracks. So much more character can be added to chords with the extra lower pedal notes/inversions at your disposal. It's my go to guitar for the writing process even though I may not track or record with it all of the time.

I would totally be interested in an Axis 7.
 
I cannot see the point of 7 or 8 string guitars, they look ugly and 6 strings has always been enough for most. I think it would be a shame if the Axis got an extra string, it is perfect as it is.
