Axis Floyd Rose clonk

Hi!

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, however I didn't find anything usind the search function...

On my Rosewood Axis, the Floyd "clonks" when releasing the arm - I suppose when it hits the top.
I think it's setup correctly: it's sits square and flush with the top and I've got 3 springs fitted.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a fix for it?

Loosen the springs in the trem cavity until the spring tension just barely lifts the bridge off the guitar top. Does it still clonk?

Mine did the same on my Y2D, since I like a tight tension, I fitted a thin leather strip under the floyd.

I like the tension kind of tight on mine. This assures that if you break a string...the others will still stay relatively in tune. Also I just like the feel of it that way.

So for me...Yes...Set up correctly there is the potential for this "clonk" to happen....but I never let it happen.

In my opinion the best fix for it is to adjust your technique in releasing the bar. Don't just let go of the bar after your depress it. Bring it back up with a little finesse.

Do you mean spring or string tension?

I loosened the spring tension a bit, and it actually made the clonk less noticeable!

I think he means spring tension, but I would NOT loosen enough so that the bridge lifts off the guitar top....unless you want the trem to float.

I keep my spring tense enough so that I can do a full step bend without it pulling the bridge off the body...that way another fretted note is still in tune even with another string being bent.

Thanks for all the tips!
I now have the spring tension so that can do big bends without the rest of the strings going out of tune, but still have much smoother trem movement. The seems to have reduced the clonking quite a bit.
I'd still be interested to see pics of the leather strip solution!
