Bartolini pickup upgrade!!!

I've upgraded my MM Sterling (with piezo) for Bartolini pickup.
Sounds different and sounds great! Boomy lows and pseudo-high's went away. I now have a REAL articluate sound with my EDEN (WT-330 and CX110 cabinet) setup.
Just wanted to share my experience with you.

Bartolini MK1s, but its different when you put replace an amazing sounding pickup as a MusicMan.

By the looks of things xcental34x, vovkinson thinks the Bartolini is an amazing sounding pick-up, and I can see his point. I'd love to have another SR5 with an Aguilar OBP-3 in it.

I think to tell which pickup is better you have at least to try them both. Also it depends on your setup(amp , cabinets).
If you go to any music store and plug your bass into Fender combo or Ampeg BA112 or BA115(with the hole at 500 Gz) you'll find your sound excellent (for first 5 minutes) and then a little boring no matter what instrument you're playing MM or cheap Squier. That's because those combos got pre-defined frequency characteristic , even in 12-clock position tone knobs.
If you want to hear your real sound do yourself a favor, put your jack into line pre-amp and then into PA and you'll be able to hear what your axe is worth. Then try to adjust your on-board preamp. That's what I did before the upgrade for Bertolini... and that's why I changed my MM pickup.

I like MM, that's my answer to why I bought it. Speaking of...I owned 5 String SR back in Ukraine and it was my favorite one.
But there is always a room for improvment. You can't tell just on spot that this or that pickup is better. It's too soon!!! Just play for awhile, listen to your mix and then decide what to do. I remember how I switched to EDEN. If anybody's got EDEN stuff that person will understand what I'm talking about. No fancy things, no mbellishment, no decorations.. just sound as it is.
I just gave it a shot. I changed the pickup and spent a week listening. I had all my modifications recorded( before and after) with 12 tracks of fusion like song... and I like it! No mud, no more aftificial highs.

The pickup selector works the same way as with the stock MM pickup.
