Battery Change

Depends on how much you play it and if you leave it plugged in.

Always keep a spare handy (and make sure it fits before you need it as some don't for some reason).

I buy the 9v duracells in an 8 pack at Costco (big box retailer mostly in US) for about $11-12

I change every 2-3 months, since it's about the cost of a cup of coffee. Heard some people say they go as long as a year.

I've had my Luke for about two years now and have never changed the battery, but it doesn't get played a whole lot.

Although I don't have a Luke, I have another guitar with actives, and the batteries (it has an 18v active setup) only need changed when the sound begins to distort. So if you notice a drop in output or the sound starts to distort, that's probably when you should change them.
