I have been searching but not finding an answer. Specs are up for ax40 d but can't find for the older ax40. Read one review that said the ax40 has a 16" radius. So hopefully someone can help and hopefully this is the right forum to ask. If not please direct me to the right one.

My little corner has gotten cramped so put an amp on Craig's list and was offered an ax40 in trade. Agreed before realising there were two different models. Thanks.

Hi vexed
the major difference between the AX40 and the AX40D is the pick ups. there are the same di marzio axis pick ups
on the ax40d while the ax40 has sterling by music man pick ups...

congrats on the new ax40!
i got myself an ax40d recently too and proceeded to trip it out with a new gotoh trem, a d-tuna, a tone knob and a chrome switch tip...

Was the gotoh a noticeable difference? More sustain better harmonics? Nice looking upgrades
didn't even have the old unit on long enough to test...:D
swapped it out mainly for aesthetic reasons (as with the rest of the changes).
just like the stylings of the gotoh floyd better...
