Best place for JP to sign on my guitar

Hi all!

I know its been asked many time before. DT is coming down to Singapore on 17th Jan 08. There will be a meet & greet session & autograph with them. Where would be the best place for JP to sign. On the side, bottom of the body or back of headstock. As the back of headstock is lacquered, its easy to wipe it off. Is it appropriate to sand the lacquer off? Thanks.
 
Why there isn't any meet&Greet in Thailand?
Not fair. :)

BTW, I think the back plate is the best spot.
 
yeah the back cover is the spot... i know theres some one on here that had him sign the inside of his back plate so he can still play it with out having to get a new plate
 
im getting the whole band to sign my trem cover then painting it with a clearcoat. :) makes it easier too, then you dont have to cart a whole guitar around for a night..

I'd have him sign the back of the headstock just like I had Albert Lee sign my guitar.

I sanded it using some 1600 then 2000 grade wet and dry, then used some T cut
to prepare the surface. I was going to have it lacquered with a clearcoat but haven't bothered.

The signature is in such a place that doesn't get touched and imo is not too obtrusive.
 
Definetly on the cavity plate, easier to seal less obtrusive and you can always get another cavity plate and preserve the sig.
 
I would say the trem plate. Then, you can either get a new trem plate or just flip it over to protect the signature.
Back of the headstock is not a bad place either. You will have to let it dry thoroughly though and not touch it. Once it is dry, it will be fine. Plus, it is out of the way of your hands and what not, so you won't be touching it at all. :cool:
 
It's all a matter of personal preference but my advice, *inside* the trem cover. If you have him sign the outside unless you clearcoat it, it will rub off from playing the guitar, been there done that. :(

If you put it on the body or neck there always a chance no matter how small that if you have to replace either, you're SOL.

You could always buy a 2nd trem cover and have him sign either side and just display it.
 
JP signed my Ibanez JS Trem cover plate when I met him in Toronto (Seriously, he's one of the coolest guys in the world). I was lucky to find a good clear-coat finish that will preserve the signatures and not smear them in the process. .... which makes little sense: Because of a trem replacement my back cover doesn't even fit on the guitar anymore.
 
At G3 in April, I got the inside of my backplate signed. My friend got the exposed side signed and clear-coated it. If you want to have the sig really visible, you can get the area beneath the bridge signed. Peedo Deedo has his signed there and it looks really cool and the clearcoat isn't a detractor.
