and i enjoyed the tone

u guys kno more about big buck basses than i do so
whats up with these basses

Never encountered a Lakland in my life, and i really have no productive/helpull answer here, but i choose to respond anyway and say-
What is up with Dirk Lance (former Incubus bassist)?? anybody heard of any projects he's up to?

his name is ben kenny
and check out the new bass player
it has an artical bout him playin the bob glaub bass
thats why i wanna kno

THe Bob Glaub is a really nice sounding bass. Plays just like a Precision, and has more of an oomph in the sound. It has a Lindy Fralin pickup in it. Thats it really. I saw this 10 year old kid come into a local music store two weeks ago, trying to decide between a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub and Fender American P-bass. His dad shelled out 1000 there on the spot for the Lakland. I hate spoiled kids. Everyone in the suburb I'm from has parents that are willing to buy them an Ampeg Stack or Mesa Boogie Half Stak. I pride myself on the fact I've worked and saved for each piece of gear I've bought.

yeah this kid at my local bass shop came in and wanted his dad to by him a really nice ampeg combo
and the sales guy greg was like
"it has really good mid low range"
and the kid was like
whats mid low

he didnt buy the amp
but he did buy like
4 bass bass pedals
jerks

Okay, we're in danger. Reminder that I'll leave up for a while before this thread goes away:

Don't you guys think it's better to keep this focused on Ernie Ball Musicman basses, considering who hosts the forum?

I'm willing to listen to arguments for/against, but there are other forums for general bass discussion.

Unless Ernie Ball goes into the landscaping business, I think landscaping would be an okay topic, Mr Juan Guitarrez.

In regards to the original thread...

Bob Glaub with a Joe Osbourne neck a.k.a. P-Bass with a J.Bass neck would probably be a good axe to have in the arsenal BUT follow this Fisher Price train of thought:

Leo made the P Bass
then upgraded with the J bass
so a P with J neck is the culmination of the two....
BUT then Leo made the STINGRAY which bettered his previous designs (the P & J)... then Sterling made the Sterling which bettered the Stingray and then along came the BONGO and the new dawn has begun!!!!
So I'm sure a Fender copy would be an ok bass to play , but why??

:D

I like them. A lot.

When I got my Stingray, I was really after a Precision bass. I tried upwards of thirty different Fenders before I found one I really liked. Then I tried a Bob Glaub, which blew them all away. It also blew away virtually every other high-end bass I tried.

Ultimately, it came down to a choice between my Ernie Ball Stingray, a pre-EB cutlass II and the Bob Glaub.

That pretty much answers your question.
