Are some MM Axis more rounded bodies?
I see some which have def. edges but have seen a special edition Gravity Games one which looks rounded (like a strat.), but it could be cos it's black and the camera angle.
Anyone know if the "Gravity Games" edition had anything special cept. paint job?
TY
Nick

I'm pretty sure that the Gravity Games ones are Axis Sports, which are discontinued models.

For the most part the shape of all the Axes is the same. The difference comes down to the wood. The Axis Sports were made of ash and that's why they aren't too many trans colors. The Axis is basswood as is the super Sport.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

Hey Glenn,
yeah thanks, helps alot.

Sooooooooo, big question. If all things were equal which would be the prefered body (wood wise that is)?

Cheers

Nick

Well Nick, I have an Axis Sport and love it too death!!! First off because it's in a Sparkle finish and secondly, it just plain and simply awesome. I've never heard the difference between and Axis, ASS and Sport.

JimiD is the Axes expert, he should drop by and fill you in on all the details.

Check out here as well:

The Axis Sports came in some different setups as well, HH, SSH. They also came with piezo's as an option, nice feature.

There is one on EvilBay right now:

You can check out Royal Music in NY as well, they have a ton of Axes.

www.gbase.com

You might want to check out www.craigslist.org as well, EBMM's show up there sometimes too.

Here's mine.

Nick, thanx for the kind words, nice to others interested in the EBMM's, they are soo sweet. Nice guitar, funky paint job!! Though that's not from CraigsList it's form Chris's, people have bought from there around here before.

Here's one of those trans with the pg Axis Sports.

Price isn't bad either with the hardshell case, always a +. :)

After talking to you I took my Axis Sport out last night for awhile, ooo I'm soo glad I didn't sell that one!!!!!

Good luck man. Glenn |B)

You know, the binding around the top of an Axis or Axis Super Sport does give the edge the appearance of being a little more severe than the top edge on the Axis Sport, but the differences are subtle... All Axis models have the "belly carve" in the back, which was not present on its predecessor, the EVH, but none have the kind of contouring you find on a Strat... As for which wood is "best", that's really a matter of personal preference. All the Axis Sports were made of Swamp Ash, while the Super Sports are generally Basswood with a Maple top, excepting the MM90-equipped models, which are Swamp Ash with a Maple top, and the Rosewood models, which are Basswood with a Rosewood top. Sports are no longer produced, but they're available on the used market.

Macgruff man congrats!!! Did you get the one from Chris's Guitars? Axis Sports are great guitars.

Oh yah welcome man. :)

Glenn |B)

Thanks Glenn. Yes the very same guitar from Chris. I have bought two other guitars before from him so I am familiar with him. He told me he had it listed before with no case but was able to get one for it. It looks just as good as new.

That's excellent man, again congrats!!!! Photos in the picture thread are a must. :D

I've got an Axis Sport too, I had 2 prior. Here it is:
