Bongo 5 vs SR5 question

Okay, let's get this out of the way. My left hand technique sucks, and that's why the G-string on my SR5 slips off the fingerboard or buzzes at times. I know that. My question is whether the Bongo 5 is more forgiving of bad technique. I'm up there in years, and I don't have the time or inclination to put in the work to improve my technique. I am what I am, and I have a blast playing, so save the woodshed suggestions. I play fours 95% of the time, but like having a five just for kicks. I love my SR5, but have been toying with changing it out for a Bongo. So what's the poop?

The simple solution to your problem is to have a new nut cut for your SR5. It's a simple thing, and then you can specify just how far from the edge you need the G string to be.

Bongos have the same edge distance as the SR5's.
