To Jon or other EBMM Repair Staff:

My youngest brother was playing around with the Bongo when he dropped it. :eek: Now the nut below the E string's broken off.

I would like to get the neck shipped to the MM facility for repair. Now, I ordered the bass in May and it was delivered to me in October. I think I'm still under the one year warranty term, no? Can you guys give me the details? My email is midopa [at] gmail [dot] com.

Sam...That really is not a warranty issue. A new nut for your Bongo is $10 plus your shipping costs. I would suggest you send the instrument in, not just the neck. I can put a new nut on the neck, but the slots need to be filed, and unless you are prepared to do the work yourself, it would be better if I did it and set the bass up for you.

You can call 1 866 823-2255 for customer service to issue a return authorization number.
 
This is sad, but it does not sound like something that will be covered under warranty. Generallly warrantys cover defects, but what you have is really abuse.

Bongo repair

Hello, may I recommend that you have EBMM send you a new nut in the mail, and take it to any competent luthier. I think most would remove the damaged nut and replace it while you wait for a small charge. I work at Lays Guitar Repair in Akron, and we would consider this a nominal repair. I suspect EBMM does not cover damage such as this under warranty. Factory warranties are for manufacturing defects such as wood or finish separation, etc., not damage due to impact or theft.

Ive had great luck with EBMM on issues such as this. Good luck. Jim

Jon, I beat the piss outta my soundguy with my Sterling.
It is now in need of repair as it has sustained significant
damage about the neck, headstock, tuners, & bridge.
Fortunately I bought it last month & it is still under Warranty.
Give me address there.

Maybe I should move!

Jon, my wife and I drove through San Luis Obispo in August (on a road trip down Route 1), and she asked what the heck we were doing staying in Ohio! Sounds like you could use some help!

Anyway, anything I can ever do to help a fellow bassist, I will do, particularly the one's that have the good sense to play the BEST working man's bass!

I love my old Stingrays but Bongos rule!

After killing your brother!!!! the best you can do is order a new nut and replace it or have a good luthier replace it for you...

how i wish i lived in slo. i would love to apply for the repair tech job. but if i got it it would certainly be a long drive from houston to slo. i dont think im qualified enough, but it sure would be awesome to work next to jon.
 
Quite a few jobs going, I see. Jon's sidekick job sounds pretty good, 4 day week and good benefits.

Perhaps THIS is the reason why the "build a Bongo" tool still hasn't been added to the EB site ;)

Put the rest of the nut and the frets away, so you'll have the first fretless and nutless Bongo... ;)
