Bongo H (or 6H) EQ question

Finally traded my 4HH for a 6H (more on it later).

To my surprise I just inherited a 3-band EQ where the 4HH has a 4-band.

Questions:
  • Do all single H Bongos come with the 3-band?
  • Is it the same 3-band as in a vanilla Stingray?
 
all single bongos comes is 3 band, unless its a piezo, then it will have the 4 band. which wont apply to the 6 strings since they dont come with piezos.. ;)

since its 18v i assume its not a sr4 preamp. they might have modified the sr4 preamp to run 18v, but i would presume its tuned especially for the bongo :)

No, ...batteries are in serial for sure and preamp runs on 18V.

3 band EQ is standard on a single H Bongos without a piezo, like mine.

It works just great with neodymium Humbacker on the, so called, sweet-spot position.
 
I have the BONGO 6 H...(Mahog Body with Roasted Neck)

The H and 3 Band is IT for me...

Flat is the tone of the gods...as soon as your start tweeking...the world opens up. the SINGLE H Bongo IS the answer to all questions...

I'm being kinda funny here..but it's true...

I have been using a Single H Bongo 5 for a year now and it is a beast!
Check out the bass sound on Megan Nicole's new single "Allright"
Thats the 5 H through a Markbass Multiamp.Played with a pick and a little distortion and compression.

That is not me in the video although I wish it were. It would be great to be 20 again! I am way too old to be seen with the younger artists I work with in the studio.

Great stuff. I am surprised how distinctive the single H bongo is, I recognize what I now have in the 6H very different from the 4HH I had.
 
H and HH are different beasts :)

awesome tone, full, taking up the space it can without interfering. it sets a mood in the intro which drives the song :)

absolutely love it!

I also think that the Bongo with the small basswood body really benefits from the additional amount of maple in the wider necks in the 5 and 6.

Are the strings you used there Chromes by a chance?
 
Speaking of strings. I highly recommend Cobalts on the Bongo H. Although...they don't come in a 6-string bass pack so I'm not sure what you'd do for the high B.
