Bongo neck clearcoat issue

My beloved Bongo has developed a small (2mm by 4mm) chip of missing clearcoat next to the fretboard.
Does anyone know what the clearcoat finish is and how to repair it? I'm afraid that it may spread over time if I don't take care of it now.

How long have you had the bongo? Is it close to one of the frets? How often do you oil the fretboard?

As that is an "edge" of the finish, it can chip off easily and also sometimes over the years oils and dirt will work their way under the edge.

How big is the chip? Dan Erlewine usually uses cyano acrylate "super glue" on small chips.

I've had the Bongo since 2006 and apply lemon oil about every 8 -12 months. I think you're spot on with your assessment.
It initially looked liked a small piece of gunk, but when I went to clean it off it was the clear coat.

The chip is small at this point so I think I'll fix with superglue.

Sure you do. Just because it's a satin finish, doesn't mean it doesn't have a clear coat on it over the color. Every Bongo has a clear coat on the neck.

Since the BONGO'S have clear coate on the neck what is the best way to polish it. I have s Sting Ray 5h & a BONGO 5HSP AND THE BONGO neck does no feel as slick as the Sting Ray.

I use regular guitar polish, then buff it with a microfiber cloth. Very slick in my hand.
