Bongo necks comparison

Hi everybody.

I received my fretless Bongo almost two weeks ago, but from the very first moment I noticed something that I'd like to make clear: My fretless' neck is notably less glossy than my fretted's. The weirdest thing to me is that the glossy look and feel of my fretted Bongo has been there from the first day I played it and always felt curious about the fact that the whole neck is like that minus the headstock, which has always had like a matte finish, and that's the way I feel my fretless' neck (I mean, the whole neck is like matte). Just curious (is there something wrong?). Any input on this is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I've one Bongo - Buttercream fretless.

The neck, including the front & back of the headstock, is matte.

Both my Bongos were matte-necked when new, but now both of them are glossy. I play them a lot, and the constant rubbing of my thumb on the backs takes away the matte-ness...
If your DG Bongo was indeed glossy from the beginning, I'd think it was played for at least a month.
