Old farts like me generally don't care a bit what other people think of them. Which makes me wonder if Bongo owners tend to be older than those who play more conventionally shaped instruments.

That's funny, because us old farts are usually perceived as 'traditionalists' and set in our ways...especially when it comes to basses and guitars.

As far as "swimming against the current", that's what happens when you get old and disoriented!

25 here, only been playing for 2 years. I remember when I was looking for my first bass I saw something with a cool looking shape in kinda a reddish colour and thought it looked cool. The price was way out of my range at the time so I didn't even bother touching it, or learning its name. It wasn't til about a year and a half later that I figured out what that bass actually was.

Looks like your assumption tends to prove true.

Given the rationale behind it, I should be allowed a few dozen votes cuz that's how many truly wacko basses I play. Give me those extra votes to use, and your graph won't peak under 50 yrs but just keep climbing into the over 50.
