bongo surgery update

Got my Bongo back from the repair guy.He just moved that front pick up back about a half inch , it's like a whole new playing experience .I can actually get my fingers in there comfortably now.The tone is also a little less dark and little more focused in the low mids....which suits me just fine!The new pick guard is great, looks just like stock.

and all this for an ABBA slap solo..... or was that a joke? Its funny you should talk about clearing the low mids. Maybe its because my bongo is a double humbucker but i've found the low mids to be extremely clear compared to other instruments i've owned. But at the same time it doen't have the weak ass low end of mid capable basses i've played before, modulus i'm looking at you.... Some days i wish i did have an active passive switch, but i've got fenders for that.....

sorry, i'm new to this forum and i wasn't aware of the previous thread. it will be interesting to see how it looks with the pup moved further back.

not to worry....

Pictures soon come mon...and ,no, the Abba slap solo is not a joke.It's not the only slap I do , but it is the only slap I do in the ABBA Gold show.The solo is a big fat rip off of a Larry Graham solo .I play it in the middle of "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)"to kick off the band solos, we each get 8 bars and thats it.Thanks to the new wireless I can walk out to the front of the stage when I do it....fun!

off the topic at hand...

Don't know if anyone is at all interested, but i just did a gig in Elmsford NY.I occationaly play with a "Legends" band (oldie tribute artists).This time around it was Buddy Holly,Roy Orbison,The Everly Bros and Elvis(got to have an Elvis).What made this one interesting is that I played my stand up bass ,for the first time in a LONG time, for half the show.The Holly and Everly stuff got the doghouse and the Orbison and Elvis got the fender.Luckily , I had a month to get some callusus on my fingers and learn how to play the thing in tune again,the little marks I etched in the side helped a lot ...but not during performance...I had the choice of reading the charts or looking for the marks. the charts won.So, now I am totaly into the upright again.Playing the thing every day, long tones, bowing the whole trip(it's giving my CTS a workout as well)
