You guys suck. That is exactly the bass (lest the gold) that I need as part of my aresenal but can't yet buy responsibly. :( Articles and pics like that only cause pain. Great review, although the 2nd opinion regarding the original Ray seems off bass according to what everyone here has said. I guess it'll help keep the sales of the single H up.

On another note - the Harke ad on the back cover cracked me up. I wonder if BP (Sterling, not the mag) started something here by getting to know us all and making himself available. I had to call Larry. :) He answered. I always disliked Harke amps, and just the fact that this guy was so nice and personable opened me up to possibly giving them another run for the money. I've needed a new amp for 3 years, and what the hell. I talked with him for a while on the phone. Told him one of my favorite things about Ernie Ball is that the company doesn't hide from their customers. I love this grass roots stuff.

I tried calling Larry Hartke twice and got his voicemail. I just thought it was some kind of joke where he never really answered........That's funny you really talked to him.
 
Saw that article today - they seemed to love the SR5 (can't blame them)... I agree, the "2nd opinion" was a bit off mark.

Re: Hartke - I have always like them, but not gigging regularly like a lot of the other guys I cannot speak to their "road-worthiness".

I run dual 4x10XL cabs and an HA5500 - I love the dual pre-amp (tube and SS) as it provides the option of either or a blend of both. The head provides a lot of great features.

I have been thinking about moving to a neo brand set-up (e.g. GK or Markbass) just to to lighten the load... Every time I drag this rig out of the basement I am reminded that I am not as young as I used to be. :p

I have a Hartke rig I drag out of my basement as well. And it just gets heavier every week it seems (4.5XL cab comes in at 99 pounds). I have been thinking about heading over to GC next month to try out the Markbass gear when it rolls in (I think their front ported 4 x 10's are about 30 pounds lighter (WOOHOO). But as far as GK goes, I think they are nearly as or just as heavy as Hartke aren't they? :confused: :confused: :confused:

The RBH and SBX series are... the Neos are very light though

64 for the 2x12 is correct (but it feels lighter than that - compared to my old Peavey 18-20's anything is light ;) )

Mobay,

I was just looking at the neo 2 x 12 and 1 x 15 online with the 1001RBII head. This would solve my weight problem and probably be around $300.00 less than the Markbass setup I was contemplating. Do you happen to have a GK head on your setup and if so I wondered how that combination worked for you. I am getting a slight (probably moderate) itch here looking at the GK Neo system. Oddjob and others please comment if you can please.
 
I love the GK setup. I am running 2 Neo 2x12's and it thumps ( I do have a 2001RB running the top though which is heavy). The response is fast and clean. No problems with lows. I also run a EBMM HD500 with the Neo's (which is a EBMM badged MarkBass) and love it as well... it doesn't have the headroom the 2001 has but has truely great tone. You can't got wrong either way.

Yeah, that 2001RB is heavy ! I got tired of lugging it around and went with the 1001RBII instead.Besides the extra channel on the 2001RB I really don't notice too much difference going from 1080 watts to 700 watts.I think I turn up the 1001RBII a couple notches higher to achieve the same volume of the 2001RB but i've still never had the volume/master past half way and that's with the input pad in! In regards to the Neo 2x12 cabs, i'm going on 2 years with mine and have never been happier.They are light, loud and low. Best cabs i've ever owned and if you play a 5string they really pump out the low B.
